For generations, the humble stool has quietly supported humanity. It has helped farmers milk cows, musicians find their rhythm, and children reach biscuit tins they probably should not have been opening. It has offered a little extra height, somewhere to rest a foot, a convenient place for a drink and a quiet spot to ponder life's mysteries.

At 865FabLab, we have given this simple piece of furniture our own interpretation. Crafted from beautiful solid hardwood, The Humble Stool combines traditional woodworking joinery with modern CNC precision. No unnecessary complications. Just honest materials, thoughtful design and craftsmanship.

Solid hardwood

Each stool uses genuine solid wood, so the natural color, grain and figure become part of the design. No MDF or particleboard.

Exposed through-tenon joinery

A substantial crossmember passes right through the broad leg panels. The protruding tenons are held by removable wooden locking pins: structural parts, not decorative plugs.

Flat-packed, easy to assemble

The Humble Stool ships flat-packed and is easily assembled with a few screws. It can also be taken apart again for storage. Prefer it assembled? Contact us and we will quote freight for a fully assembled stool.

A stool and a drinks table

Broad leg panels splay out toward the floor, with shaped cutouts and a rounded circular seat. The round top doubles as a drinks table, bedside table or side table.

Each Humble Stool is crafted in our Tennessee workshop, so due to the nature of our business we confirm your delivery date when you place your order.

Choose your wood: 12 exotic and domestic hardwoods

From exotic woods such as Gonçalo Alves (Tigerwood), African Padauk, Peruvian Walnut and Makore to classic American hardwoods like Black Walnut, Cherry and White Oak, every stool is solid wood throughout.

Wood images are concept renders, shown to give you an idea of each species. Every piece of timber is unique, so the grain, color and figure of your stool will not look exactly like the image.

A thoughtful gift, engraved under the seat

Every Humble Stool is engraved under the seat top with "Made in Tennessee by 865FabLab". Add a personal message of up to 40 characters, in Classic Serif, Script or Block Capitals, and it becomes a gift they will keep for years.

Designed and made in our Tennessee workshop, where CNC machining meets careful timber selection, hand finishing and hands-on craftsmanship.

Finish and care

Our clear protective finish enhances the natural grain and character of the hardwood while providing a smooth surface suited to everyday use. Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry promptly; avoid prolonged standing water, excessive heat and harsh cleaners.
